Support Team USA in its quest for the Monster Energy Speedway World Cup

The Monster Energy Speedway World Cup is the sport’s own version of the Motocross of Nations. For 2014 Team USA is one of nine countries having earned the right to compete in the seven-day tournament, July 26 through August 2, which includes events in Great Britain, Sweden and Poland. Team USA finished in fifth place in last year’s World Cup beating perennial favorites Great Britain, Sweden and Russia to earn its best placing in a decade. Two-time Speedway World Champion and Team USA rider Greg Hancock explained, ”Last year was much more successful than we anticipated. When we put the stars and stripes on our chest it’s everything we are a proud country and we want to show people!”

This and other successes in American speedway racing are fueling new interest in the sport for young riders on 50cc, 150cc, 250cc and 500cc bikes. Team USA team manager and 1996 Speedway World Champion Billy Hamill offered, “Our success in the World Cup has been important to bringing young talent into American speedway. The team has the pressure of winning and paving the way for the future of the sport here in the states. We are all doing this because we want to win and find a way to give back to the sport we care about.”
